US-Vietnam political, security and defense dialogue a great success

V.U.M - The first political, security and defense dialogue since the two countries upgraded their bilateral relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership ended successfully.

A delegation led by Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie D. Jenkins, concluded the first iteration of U.S.-Vietnam Political, Security, and Defense Dialogue on August 26, the first iteration since both countries elevated bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Hà Kim Ngọc.

The dialogue included discussions on bilateral relations, defense, security and law enforcement, war legacies, and emerging technologies cooperation.

At the dialogue, Under Secretary Jenkins announced support for Vietnamese national and provincial officials developing implementation plans for Vietnam’s Women, Peace, and Security National Action Plan through an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
