V.U.M - The U.S. Mission to Vietnam has announced the opening of the recruitment season for Vietnamese educational institutions interested in hosting Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) for the 2026–2027 academic year, aiming to enhance English education and strengthen cultural exchange between Vietnam and the United States.

Hanoi, January 22, 2026 – The U.S. Mission to Vietnam officially announced the launch of the recruitment process for host institutions participating in the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Under the program, gifted high schools, colleges, and universities located outside Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are invited to apply to host a native English speaker from the United States for one academic year, from September 2026 to May 2027. Fulbright English Teaching Assistants support English language instruction with a focus on listening and speaking skills, while also taking part in a range of cultural exchange and language-related activities at their host institutions.

Launched in Vietnam in 2008, the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program aims to promote English language learning nationwide and foster meaningful cultural exchange between American and Vietnamese students. Through these exchanges, the program contributes to strengthening mutual understanding and long-term cooperation between the two countries. All ETAs are U.S. college graduates with a strong interest in teaching English abroad and serving as cultural ambassadors of the United States.

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of America’s Independence, the U.S. Mission to Vietnam encourages Vietnamese gifted high schools, colleges, and universities to apply for the opportunity to host a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant during the 2026–2027 academic year. The initiative reflects the shared commitment of both countries to advancing educational cooperation and people-to-people ties.

Interested institutions are requested to submit their applications no later than March 15, 2026.
