Discover The New Houston Signature Experiences

Monday, 05/06/2024 - 5:49 AM (GMT+7)

V.U.M - In addition to the existing Experience Houston Marketplace, the popular platform with offerings that include attractions, guided tours and even multi-day passes for museums and local breweries, the new Houston Signature Experiences provide visitors with five carefully curated immersive experiences.

To celebrate Houston's cultural diversity, the new experiences in the program are provided by Black-owned small businesses.

The stories behind the Houston Signature Experiences invite you to listen, taste and learn from each one.

Embark on an intense historical journey at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, nestled amidst Houston's towering skyscrapers. This hallowed ground, established in January of 1866, just two years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and six months following the liberation of Texas slaves, stands as a beacon of the unyielding spirit and faith of those once bound by enslavement.

The 1847 Kellum-Noble House, the 1866 Fourth Ward Cottage, and the 1870 Yates House—each one a UNESCO-designated Site of Memory for their 'Slave Route Project'—stand as pillars of remembrance. As you wander through these homes, you are not just walking through museum exhibits; you are transported to a different era, where each room tells a story of endurance and each artifact a testament to the indomitable human spirit.

Immerse yourself in the warm embrace of Houston's authentic culinary landscape at "Houston This Is It Soul Food," where each recipe is a chapter of history served on a plate. Since 1959, this restaurant has been a gastronomic anchor in the community, weaving a narrative of unity and flavor with every meal served.

A one-of-a-kind dessert experience that blends the flavors of history, life lessons, and the profound journey of becoming with the captivating stories behind some of our favorite classic southern desserts.

Indulge in a 90-minute journey of taste, as Houston's premier black-owned winery rolls out an experience that is both a lesson in the art of winemaking and a celebration of culinary artistry. This is where the heritage of soul food meets the refined elegance of award-winning wines.
