On the afternoon of December 19, 2023, the People's Committee of Da Nang City convened a meeting with various departments and Sun Group to discuss the organization of events and activities related to the Danang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2024 as a complementary business.

The venue for DIFF 2024 will remain the same as 2023, including the Han River Port area (shooting ground) and the sidewalk area of Tran Hung Dao Street (art performance organization).

It is expected that DIFF 2024 will have 8 teams participating, including 7 international teams from countries such as France, Italy, USA, Germany, Poland, China, and Finland. The Da Nang team will represent Vietnam. Notably, next year's event will feature 3 rookie teams from the US, Germany, and China participating in the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival.

DIFF 2024 will maintain the same program as last year, featuring five nights of competition, including four nights of qualifying and a final night. The opening night is scheduled for June 8, followed by fireworks nights every Saturday night in the following weeks, with one week off before the final night. The DIFF 2024 final is expected to take place on July 13.

Teams will have 20 minutes every night to perform fireworks displays based on a theme agreed upon by the organizers. The general theme for DIFF 2024 is still being ed, but leaders from Da Nang City emphasized their goal to convey a message of a peaceful, fair, harmonious, and humane society through DIFF 2024.

When held in 2023, DIFF has created a boost for Da Nang tourism to recover spectacularly after COVID-19, with growth numbers exceeding expectations.

In the first six months of this year, the number of visitors served by accommodation providers in Da Nang is estimated to have exceeded 3.5 million, which is a significant increase of 116.6% compared to the same period in 2020. Out of this, around 930,000 visitors were international, representing a whopping 11.3-fold increase from last year. Meanwhile, the number of domestic visitors was nearly 2.6 million, which shows a 67.7% growth rate from the same period last year.

During the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF), the number of flights to Da Nang International Airport increased to 150 flights per day, which was 1.5 times more than usual. The city's room capacity reached about 70%, with 4-5 star hotels reaching 80-85% occupancy, indicating growth compared to DIFF 2019. The year 2024 will mark the 12th year of the DIFF competition in Da Nang, which began in 2008 under the name Da Nang International Fireworks (DIFC). In 2017, the competition changed its name to the International Fireworks Festival (DIFF), with funding from various organizations and sponsorship from Sun Group. DIFF has now become an important event that highlights the Han River city every summer.
